RELATIONSHIP DESTROYERS

Taken from “True Reflection: Focusing On Your Precious Identity With Purpose” by Lisa Stenger

  • Do you know someone who is unwilling to apologize?

  • Are you in a relationship that has repeating conflicts?

  • Do you find yourself in a relationship filled with resentment?

The root cause could be PRIDE.

Several unhealthy, prideful positions can keep us from working well together in accomplishing God’s plans. All it takes is a “SPARK.”

Think about the wildfires you may hear are happening all over the globe. Human activities cause about 84% of all wildfires in the United States (www.earth.org). The four components needed to create and keep a fire burning are heat, fuel, oxygen, and fire, completing the tetrahedron fire triangle (www.firetrace.com). When we demonstrate pride, we are lighting the match, giving heat. The pleasure of our achievement through pride is the fuel and oxygen.

Pride is the fire triangle that destroys love, kindness, relationships, trust, and more! We are no longer able to serve God from a clean heart when we fan the flames of pride. Here are five areas of pride that can destroy everything in our path.

“The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell” (James 3:6 NIV).

There is a price to pay. If S.P.A.R.K. stands in your way, the whole body becomes corrupt. Don’t let these obstacles derail your progress-overcome it and safeguard your mission!

The opposite of pride is humility. Humility resists pride. By turning to God to find your true identity and true self, you are approaching Him in humility.
