God’s Patented Purpose

Do you often focus too much on your flaws and weaknesses?

What if you shifted your attention to your strengths, recognizing they serve a purpose?

Session 1: True Reflection written by Lisa Stenger (Women’s Bible Study)

God sees our potential through our brokenness, which can fulfill His purpose. God was not going to release Moses from His request just because he thinks he’s not good enough.

Our core beliefs are woven from a tapestry of experiences in our background that uniquely influence our individual character traits. Each moment contributes to the distinctive qualities that make us who we are.

Your core belief is your collection of basic viewpoints about yourself. We are prone to hold these beliefs as absolute truths, when in fact they are only our reflectional opinions. Our core belief is found deep in our thoughts and determines how we perceive and interpret ourselves and others.

These six areas make up your core belief system and play a part in your personal development.

  1. MentalRelating to the mind, i.e., your moods, behaviors, and thoughts.
Examples: argumentative, calm, observer, opinionated, optimistic, understanding

  2. SpiritualRelating to values and sense of purpose.
Examples: Compassionate, faithful, grateful, honorable, obedient, sincere

  3. PhysicalRelating to your body.
Examples: Boring, diet, exercise, value good sleep, walker, unmotivated

  4. Intellectual Relating to learning and growing in experience.
Examples: competitive, cultured, avid reading, Information seeker, enquirer

  5. Emotional Relating to emotion and how you feel or are being valued
Examples: anxious, fearful, intense, hot-headed, jealous, sensitive, vocal

  6. Social Relating to connecting with others.
Examples: friendly, independent, leader, outgoing, talkative, distant

God desires to draw us closer, and yet knows we desire to measure up to this world. God tells us that we matter and have far greater value than the immaterial things of this world.

So why do we continue to believe the labels we place on ourselves and others?

We are precious in our Creator’s eyes. After all, God created us through unconditional love. Learn to see yourself as God sees you through Scriptures.

YOU ARE IMPORTANT!
"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made… How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!" (Psalm 139: 14,17 ESV).

Pull from your best character traits found in your Ms. Pies and use them for good.

  • What stands out as your most significant character trait?

  • How can you use your areas of strength to positively impact others?

PRAY

Lord,

Thank you for making me uniquely special. I am grateful for my life’s experiences and the people who have been a part of my journey. May I appreciate the beauty and wisdom that come from both the good and bad experiences and relationships. I know that I am precious to you, and you love me just as I am. Help me to recognize my positive character traits so I can see the gifts you have given me along the way. Guide me on how to use these gifts for your intended purpose to bring all honor and glory in your name. Amen!

The upcoming Women’s Bible Study, "True Reflection: Focusing on Your Precious Identity with Purpose," will guide you through the journey of Moses and his five excuses. Discover how God was not going to release Moses from His request just because he thinks he’s not good enough. Sometimes, it is where we think we are weak that God’s strength can bring us to a place of being more than good enough.
