How would you answer this question?

Immediately, we are drawn to answer with what we do for a living, what college we attended, what artistic ability we have, who we married, our children, our successes, our children’s successes, our hobbies and artistic abilities, the size of our bank account and the non-profits we support and donate to, or where we live and what type of home we live in, and our political views; however, none of these things define “Who you are!”
These are temporary and vain things that can come and go in the blink of an eye, as fast as the wind blows through the seasons of life. The world looks at these things to determine who you are. They are things you do, have done, people you know, and places you’ve been, all things God has blessed you with and placed in your life. Who you are isn't found in those things.
Psalm 8: 1, 4-5 says, “O Lord…What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.”
Although we are lower than heavenly angels, God has still crowned us as his family, children of the Living God who reigns over all creation. Though we are sinners, God values us highly; He has entrusted us as stewards of the earth to care for this planet and all the people and creatures who live on it.
Next time you ask yourself, “Who am I?” or someone asks, “Who do you think you are?” Remember these five things!
You are the daughters and sons of the God who reigns over all creation. You are responsible for loving and caring for all people, animals, and this land we walk on.
- (Psalm 8)You are made in the image of the God to whom all glory and honor is given.
- (Genesis 1:27)You were created with love, cherished as God’s precious child.
- (Psalm 139:14; John 1:12)You are worthy to pursue a place with Christ in heaven because you are His, and He cares deeply for you. – (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10)
Your identity is found in Christ Jesus and the God who created you. You belong to God your Father, His special possession. - (1 Peter 2:9) This, my friends, is truth!
Who you are is found deep in your heart, created with God’s purpose in mind! As God’s child, your search ends; this is for eternity, for His love for you will never end or waver. No love found on earth is like it. He chases after you, even when you are lost, wondering and searching for “Who you are.”
Look no further than your heavenly Father.
Who Are You?...
You are the daughters and sons of the God who reigns over all creation!
Praise God and give thanks for none of your past mistakes; the places you’ve been and the things you've done define you.
You are a child of God, His MASTERPIECE!
Next time you are asked, “Who are you?” How will you answer?
